DUNDEE KZN: Residents fume over water outage

Workers cannot keep up with the number of pipe breaks

Most of Dundee and Glencoe have been been without water since early this morning.

Umzinyathi District Municipality’s Communications Officer, Nomonde Nzimakwe , said workers were ‘operating around the clock’ but could not keep up with the number of breakages – caused mainly by the digging of trenches in Dundee and Glencoe for the installation of fibre optic cabling.

Residents who called the Courier said they had ‘long become used to water cuts, caused by the drought and the lack of capacity of the Biggersberg Water Treatment Plant but this was now becoming ridiculous’. Breakages have occured in Strathmore Park, Peacevale, Glencoe and in many other parts of the Municipal area.

Hopes are that water will be restord by 6pm.
