DUNDEE KZN: LETTER – Can low-risk convicts please help to combat crime?

After he was arrested by security guards, he said he would come back and kill everybody

Editor

I live in central Dundee, next to an overgrown property.

On Monday, March 8, I helped apprehend a person who stole things from Shoprite. He jumped from an empty plot into my yard in Beaconsfield Street. After he was arrested by security guards, he said he would come back and kill everybody.

On Wednesday, he was released from jail and on Thursday night at about 9pm, someone threw rocks onto my house roof. Now I want to ask if Correctional Services can send out low-risk convicts, under supervision, to come and slash or chop down the bushes and weeds. That will already keep the drug sellers and ‘users’ off the property.

Then the people who run away from security officers in town won’t run into this property to hide from being apprehended by security forces. I appreciate your time in looking into this matter.

Let’s hope we can do something, because things are getting out of hand now.
