VRYHEID KZN: Tents and shacks near bus rank raise questions

We just want someone who is in charge to go and have a look at what actually happens there. If they do know, can they please do something about it.

Complaints have poured in regarding an area at the plaza, behind or near the eMondlo bus rank. Concerned citizens are not sure whether people are allowed to live in that area, as it is alleged that shacks and tents have been erected there.
Residents now want clarity from whoever is in charge of the area, since it is also alleged that the people staying there contribute to the ‘dirt of the town’. “At first, a few tents were put up in the area, so that means there were a few people staying there. After some time, we realized that the number of tents was increasing. We just don’t know if they are supposed to be there and who gave them the go-ahead to occupy that area. Where do they urinate, as there are no toilets there? It stinks to high heaven! We just want someone who is in charge to go and have a look at what actually happens there. If they do know, can they please do something about it. It is not a healthy environment to see and live in,” explained one concerned citizen.
The Vryheid Herald tried to set up an interview with the person who owns the area, but at the time of going to print, he had not responded.
