DUNDEE KZN: You can now check your UIF claim status from home

The Labour Department has resorted to technology to assist clients

The Labour Department has released a Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), or a  “quick code” or “feature code”, to assist those who have applied for UIF benefits.

The zero rated UIF USSD is *134*843* and the UIF app is available to those who have applied. This will give applicants the ability to check their claim status, whether it is approved or rejected, while sitting at home without having the frustration of queuing for hours at the Labour Department.

They can check their payment status to see if payments have been made, get clarity on a number of general enquiries relating to UIF all without leaving their homes.

Employees can even check to see if their employers have registered them. For further queries email the Labour Office at Uifpayments.dundee@labour.gov.za or Uifenquiries.dundee@labour.gov.za
