DUNDEE KZN: Hail storm strikes and turns roads into ice rinks

Motorists are urged to proceed with precaution in especially the Helpmekaar district

A vicious hail and rain storm, accompanied by thunder and lightning, hit the area last night, Thursday. In Dannhauser, where the struck a little earlier than in Dundee, the power was out for around two hours.

The hail turned many roads into dangerous ice rinks and several crashes were reported.
This morning the hail was still lying on the roads – especially in the Pomeroy area – and motorists are advised to drive carefully.

Around 24mm of rain was reported in the Dundee area.
