VRYHEID KZN: stolen cow that was used to pay lobola recovered by police

The cow was positively identified by the owner as the one that was stolen over the weekend.

The Zululand Multi-District Stock Theft Task Team have recovered two cows and a calf in two separate incidents in the Makhukhula area. In the first case, they followed up on information yesterday morning, regarding livestock stolen at Gluckstadt Village over the weekend. Members of the Task Team went to the Makhukhula area where a stray cow was found. The cow was positively identified by the owner as the one that was stolen over the weekend. In the second incident, the team proceeded to a different homestead in the area where a cow and a calf were also found. During the investigation, the Task Team established that the family acquired the cow in March 2019 when it was given to them as a lobola payment for their daughter. The cow and two-month-old calf were seized by police and positively identified by the lawful owner. Investigations continue into the matter.
