VRYHEID KZN: Organisation donates sporting kit

"The aim of the event is to start an initiative for the women in our communities, as it seems there is not much focus when it comes to them and sports.”

ActionSA is a new political organisation that was formed in August last year. On Saturday, they had an event at the eBhekuzulu netball field in Old Location. Sibiya Siyanqoba, who is one of the ambassadors of ActionSA, said, “The aim of the event is to start an initiative for the women in our communities, as it seems there is not much focus when it comes to them and sports.” He went on to say that they have identified netball teams around Abaqulusi and managed to find out there are about 29 teams from different communities. On Saturday, a netball team called Vryheid Dynamics was donated netball jerseys by the members of ActionSA. Sandile Gumbi (head of communications and municipal organiser of ActionSA under Abaqulusi Municipality) mentioned that, “As ActionSA, we want to see young people doing something positive. As you know, some of the youth spend their time on alcohol and drugs. As the society, we must know that they are not in this situation because they planned to. As public representatives, we must help them to overcome every challenge they face.” Vryheid Dynamics netball team founder Ntokozo Dlamini said, “I am very happy and grateful to ActionSA, as they are the first organisation to donate something to us. I would like other organisations or businesses to sponsor or help teams where they can, not only netball; I am talking about all sports activities.” If you would like to fund or sponsor a netball team in Abaqulusi, you can contact 073-677-8738 or 064-088-5529.
