NEWCASTLE KZN: More than 6000 jobs potentially lost following factory looting in Madadeni

To date, 20 factories were plundered and 5 more were set on fire in the area.

Between 6000 and 8000 individuals could potentially lose their jobs.

Member of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Alex Liu has revealed the devastating impact riots and looting have had on the industrial sector. To date, 20 factories were plundered and 5 more were set on fire in Madadeni.

Liu said some of the factory owners were considering closing their doors forever. This will have dire consequences for thousands of factory employees and may be another blow to the local economy.
