Ladysmith KZN: 1 dead in horror crash along N3

2 passengers survived, but sustained severe injuries

One person lost their life this afternoon (July 28) in a crash on the N3 heading towards the Tugela Plaza.

It is believed that the driver of a Toyota Fortuner lost control of the vehicle. There were three occupants in the Fortuner at the time. The two passengers survived, but sustained severe injuries and were rushed to hospital. 

The driver perished in the crash and was declared dead at the scene.

Officials conducted traffic control and slowed down passing motorists. K9 Unit officers, police, Public Safety, Traffic officials and emergency personnel responded to the scene. 

It is believed that the Toyota Fortuner is a private construction vehicle that was pulling a trailer containing equipment to repair roads.

The deceased has not yet been identified.
