DUNDEE KZN: August winds fan fires

The pre-frontal wind blew relentlessly

Strong pre-frontal August winds fanned several fires that broke out yesterday afternoon.

Flames were seen burning on Talana Hill with the accompanying blue smoke but there were no reports of serious damage.

A fire also started near the Steenkoolspruit, adjacent to Forestdale, and soon spread to a coal and truck depot. A pile of tyres and a heap of coal ignited.

The Fire Engine and several volunteers were on scene to ensure there was not any further damage.
