NEWCASTLE KZN: Owners reminded to vaccinate their pets against rabies
"Keeping your pet vaccinated against rabies will help to reduce the spread of the disease."
Pet owners are being reminded to bring their animals in for the rabies vaccine.
Janine Ferreira, from the Department of Agriculture’s State Veterinary Services, stated rabies is a year-round threat in KZN and casesĀ are reported each year. She explained that vaccinating one’s pet will help reduce the spread of the disease.
The official rabies campaign, organised by the State Veterinarian Office, will continue on the following dates from 9:00 to 15:00:
Tuesday, August 17: Lennoxton Library, Asham Centre (Paradise), and the Fernwood shop
Wednesday, August 18: Ferrum Swimming Pool (Pioneer Park), the play park at the corner of Erica and Drakensberg Drive, and the Pines parking area
Thursday, August 19: Barry Hertzog Park Shopping Centre, Amajuba Park Shopping Centre, and Ncandu Park Shopping Centre
Friday, August 20: The play park on Eaton Road (Amiel Park) and the Mini Market on Nagtegaal Street (Aviary Hill)
Saturday, August 21: All above-mentioned areas as well as the corner of Hospital and Sutherland Streets, the Arbor Park Shopping Centre, Siyahlala-la (Imphembe Construction), and the Fairleigh Community Hall.
