Ladysmith KZN: Rotary inducts new president and members

There was also the presentation of a special award for Vocation Excellence

On Tuesday, August 17, Ladysmith Emnambithi Rotary Club was happy to have friends, family and guests join them for the induction of President Steve Tandy for the year 2021/22.

According to the local Rotary Club, the evening was one that some will remember fondly for the rest of their lives. There was also the presentation of a special award for Vocation Excellence – “one we see far too little of” and which is one of Rotary’s core values.

At the induction and awards evening, it was said that, “Our town spirit has been hard hit – not only by Covid-19 but a great many other things not unique to us – and a great many people have lost faith in their fellow man or woman… It is the acknowledgement of a fellow townie that has restored some faith in human goodness!”

Sister Zama of Ladysmith Provincial Hospital consistently goes above and beyond her duties as an administrator and nurse with the Department of Health, so much so that her efficiency has people looking for her at private institutions and not her government offices! She was surprised and humbled by the award, and added that she does her job because of her deep-seated love of her local community. Sister Zama, WE SALUTE YOU!

After what has been a challenging few years, the Ladysmith Rotary Club was ecstatic to induct two new members in the form of Ms Busisiwe Mbuyisa and Mr Bonginkosi Madikizela.

“We are of the firm belief that they will join our club in this year’s effort to “Serve to Change Lives”, in keeping with Rotary’s philosophy of ‘Service Above Self’. Our evening was a great time to be reminded that we are part of an organisation much larger than ourselves and that as one of the leading service clubs internationally, we serve our fellow man because ‘service is the rent I pay for the space I occupy on this earth’,” was the message.
