NEWCASTLE KZN: Five more suspects nabbed for drug-related crimes
According to Arumugam, the total estimated street value of the narcotics seized is around R2 600.
Mandrax, methcathinone and heroin – five suspects have been charged for possession of these drugs recently.
Lizzy Arumugam, from Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications, explained that earlier this week, members of Osizweni Crime Prevention and the Newcastle Task Team conducted an intelligence driven joint operation in the wider Osizweni area.
Members of the joint team followed the lead to a house in Section A, where two suspects were caught in possession of heroin. The police officials later raided another house in Section A. One suspect was arrested with a stash of heroin.
The joint team also descended on a house in Section B, where one suspect was arrested for the possession of Mandrax tablets.
The final arrest of the operation was made in Osizweni Section C. Members proceeded to a house and found the suspect had stashed some methcathinone (CAT).
According to Arumugam, the total estimated street value of the narcotics seized is around R2 600.
“The operation had positive results, with five suspects aged 19 to 37 arrested for narcotics possession. They have all appeared in court.”
