NEWCASTLE KZN: Police confirm four dead in Saturday’s Osizweni hit and run

Four people died at the scene, with two others transported to hospital for treatment.

Four people were killed and two others were seriously injured, in a hit and run incident reported in Osizweni on Saturday (September 11).

Lizzy Arumugam, from the Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications office, confirmed that Osizweni SAPS is investigating a case of  culpable homicide, following the incident on the Utrecht Road near Stolo Esimnyama (near Dicks Halt/Manzana).

According to a report from Arumugam, a vehicle ran over six teenagers (aged between 15 and 17 years), leaving four of the victims dead. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before emergency officials arrived.

The two injured patients were treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to a local healthcare facility. SAPS officials are still investigating the matter and request anyone with information to come forward.
