The N11 heading towards Newcastle, just after the Pepworth turn-off, is currently closed after a truck and a car were involved in a fatal crash this evening (September 17).

The crash claimed the life of one person. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the truck sustained injuries. 

Elandslaagte police, the Ladysmith Dog (K9) Unit and Public Safety responded. The forensic department is currently still on scene, carrying out an investigation.  

The deceased has not yet been identified. 

Motorists travelling on the N11 towards Newcastle are advised to use an alternate route.
