ESTCOURT KZN: Giving a priceless gift
Donating a pint of blood takes just 30 minutes and is a life-saving gift
The lives of thousands of people have been enriched, thanks to selfless blood donors.
When you donate a pint of blood, you save up to three lives, as blood is separated into red blood cells, plasma and platelets.
48 locals are among those who contributed to the blood stocks when a community blood donor clinic was recently held at the Estcourt Methodist Church.

The friendly staff from the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) welcomed the donors while adhering to Covid-19 regulations, and assisted with donations. Donating a pint of blood takes just 30 minutes and is a life-saving gift.
The minimum requirements to be a blood donor are:
• You are between the ages of 16 and 75 years old, for first-time donors.
• You weigh a minimum of 50kg.
• You are in good health.
• You lead a low-risk lifestyle.
• You consider your blood safe for transfusion.
• You have had a balanced meal within four hours of donating blood.

The next blood donor clinic will be held on October 14.
