The Bring Back Ubuntu non-profit organisation, in partnership with TB/HIV Care and other stakeholders, held a men’s summit at the Bergville Sports Complex on Wednesday (October 6).

This summit follows the one that was held in Ladysmith last month, the purpose being to encourage men to play an active role in fighting gender-based violence (GBV).

Bring Back Ubuntu chairperson Mr Lwazi Dube says the plan is to visit all towns in the uThukela District, where they meet with men from various sectors. The aim is to find solutions to deal with the growing number of GBV incidents in the district.

“The event was a huge success. We had people from different sectors, including academics, businessmen and ordinary members of society. It is good to see men standing up to condemn acts of gender-based violence in their respective communities,” said Dube.
