NEWCASTLE KZN: Boschpick Highlanders qualify for Covid Cup Finals
The local team advanced to the finals with a five-try win over Kriel.
Newcastle Boschpick Highlanders recently qualified for the final of the Covid Cup, which takes place at Mbombela Stadium soon.
The local side defeated Mpumalanga-based Kriel Rugby Club by 33 points to 24 last Saturday (October 2), scoring five tries and claiming the bonus point.
Kriel never gave up and fought back as hard as they could, but Highlanders were – despite their scrappiness – simply too much for Kriel,” said Highlanders head coach, Andrè Swanepoel.
Swanepoel commented on a difficult day for the Newcastle club overall, but was pleased that opportunities were capitalised on and the victory could be secured.
