VRYHEID KZN: MEC launches road project to improve eDumbe economy

This road is located between Makateeskop and Braunschweig, under eDumbe Local Municipality

As part of the roll-out of the Provincial October Transport Month Campaign, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety & Liaison Ms Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni launched the upgrade of the P303 main road from gravel to blacktop on Friday. The MEC was accompanied by eDumbe Mayor Cllr Mavuso, the local chief and other stakeholders.

The P303 is one of the strategic roads linking the community of eDumbe with important facilities, as well as serving the farming community of the Zululand District. The launch of the second phase of this project is part of the infrastructure roll-out by provincial government, which in turn is part of the Economic Recovery Plan.

This road is located between Makateeskop and Braunschweig, under eDumbe Local Municipality. Phase 2 will entail the upgrading of 5.74 kilometres from existing gravel to blacktop, including one bridge structure over the Bazangoma River, at a total construction cost of R121.50 million.
