Officials say it has been a slow start to the local government election in parts of Ladysmith, with some voting stations empty.

A trickle of voters

The Town Hall was nearly totally empty this morning (November 1), with voters trickling in one by one. Our journalist cast his vote at the Town Hall; he was the only person voting there at the time. “It was empty.”

Decent queues

There are long queues at Egerton and Monument (30-plus people). As people vote and leave, more people take their place.

Voters turned away

Officials are turning away voters at voting stations if they are not registered there. They are then told where they need to go if they want to vote. We will keep you updated with voting news from throughout the district all day.
