Turnout in the rural areas of Alfred Duma Local Municipality in today’s (November 1) Local Municipal Elections has been poor up to this point in time.

Not many people voting

People are arriving slowly and most of the voting stations were quiet this morning.

However, some stations started to see a slight improvement after lunch, with more people showing up.

Voting stations

The turnout has been very low at voting stations in Ward 15, 17, 18 and 19, covering Kleinfontein, Driefontein, Baldaskraal, Doornhoek, Watersmeet and Peacetown.

Duration

The time each voter is spending at voting stations is reported to be less than five minutes, as queues are short.
