Newcastle’s geysers off for Stage 1 load-shedding
Newcastle Municipality will reduce electricity usage by turning off geysers only in areas where it directly supplies electricity.
Geysers in Newcastle will be turned off during Stage 1 load-shedding.
This was implemented from 12:00 noon until 5:00 tomorrow morning (November 12). In a statement from the Newcastle Municipality today, this was confirmed.
According to Mlungisi Khumalo, Head of Communications, electricity consumption will be reduced by turning off geysers. However, this is only be applicable in areas where the municipality supplies electricity directly.
Residents are encouraged to use electricity sparingly in future. Please turn off your geyser, pool pump, and any other non-essential appliances.”
Residents must still treat all electrical appliances, outlets, and installations as live.
While Newcastle’s geysers will be off during Stage 1 load-shedding, Eskom is expected to provide updates soon.
In a statement released on its social media earlier today, Eskom confirmed that Stage 2 load-shedding would be in effect.
This is expected to be suspended from 05:00 tomorrow:
