Some parts of Ladysmith without electricity

Electricians are busy restoring power to the affected parts of town

Some parts of town are still without electricity as a result of Sunday night’s (January 2) heavy storm.

When contacted, Ward 12 Councillor Sharon Buys said that the affected areas are Princess Elizabeth Street in Ward 12; Residency, Tozer and Corrigal roads in Ward 22; and Carbineer Road in Ward 13.

Trees were blown over and power lines were damaged by high winds, driving rain and localised flooding.

“The municipality say they are aware of all the challenges residents are experiencing and empathise with the community. Electricians are slowly but surely restoring power to various parts of town and ask residents to be patient, as the challenges are numerous and widespread,” said Cllr Buys.
