Flood victims spend the night at Indoor Sports Complex

The victims are grateful for the shelter

It was a sad afternoon, as mothers and babies were seen at the Ladysmith Indoor Sports Complex after being evacuated during the floods today (January 17).

They were rescued by the Al-Imdaad Foundation and taken to the sports complex to spend the night, as their homes have been flooded. 

The victims, which included men, were given hot meals, blankets, mattresses and other essential items.

uThukela District Mayor Inkosi Shabalala was seen assisting at the complex.

A family that was rescued today were stuck for almost two days in their flat.
