Two suspects were taken into custody.

Two suspects were arrested for possession of Mandrax.

On Monday, January 17, an intelligence-driven operation was carried out in Osizweni, with the assistance of Osizweni Crime Prevention members.

Lizzy Arumugam, of the Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications office, explained that SAPS members went to a house in the Mndozo area after being informed of nefarious activities taking place there.

“Upon arrival, police arrested two suspects, ages 27 and 29, for having four full Mandrax tablets and two quarter Mandrax tablets, which were discovered hidden under their pillows,” she said.

The value of the drugs recovered was estimated to be around R500.

“Both suspects will appear this week in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court,” she concluded.
