Members from Osizweni Crime Prevention were joined by Newcastle District Task Team members.
According to Lizzy Arumugam of the Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications office, the first suspect was apprehended when members went to a house in Osizweni’s Section A.
“The 32-year-old suspect was apprehended for possessing five parcels of cocaine worth roughly R5 000,” Arumugam explained.
Following that, Arumugam stated that the members went to a house in Blaauwbosch.
“Here they arrested a 41-year-old suspect for being in possession of five whole Mandrax tablets worth approximately R500.”
Members then arrested a suspect for heroin possession at a house in Osizweni’s Mkhwanazi Stand area.

The bag was thought to be worth roughly R300.
Police then arrested a 28-year-old suspect after he was found to be in possession of four parcels of heroin in Section B.
“The drugs recovered were estimated at around R200.”
Two more suspects were arrested for being in possession of heroin, as well as a large amount of dagga estimated at around R800.
