Drakensberg Boys Choir returning to Newcastle –

The world-renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir will perform live in town next month, for the first time in many years.

Co-ordinator, Camille Honiball revealed the charity event – branded as a ‘cultural community project’ – would take place at the Ferrum High School hall on the evening of May 28.

She explained that the first half of the programme would feature local school choirs and the Drakensberg Boys Choir. The second part of the concert would feature the guest choir alone, culminating in a group rendition of the national anthem.

What a privilege it is for our young choristers to share the stage with and learn from a professional choir right here in Newcastle!” exclaimed Honiball.

Administration of all tickets and funds related to the project will be handled by Margaret Joubert. She can be reached on 034 312 3351 (between 09:00 and 13:00 from Mondays to Thursdays).

Alternatively, contact Honiball on 082 453 1312 for more information.

We are forever thankful for everyone’s kindness, to contribute to our town’s heritage and enable us all to enjoy the talents of our youth again after such a long, pandemic-caused cultural drought.”
