New stalls at Glencoe taxi rank
This initiative has been funded by Buffalo Coal as part of plaguing back to the community.

A total of eight stalls are currently being built at the Glencoe taxi rank in Karel Landman Street, to the tune of R1.2 million. This initiative has been funded by Buffalo Coal as part of giving back to the community. As a project undertaken by the directors of Endumeni Municipality and Buffalo Coal, the same stalls are also being built in Dundee. “We have welcomed this initiative by Buffalo Coal, as they are giving back to the community and I am glad that it was awarded to one of our local contractors, Sinethemba Construction, in Glencoe,” commented Ward 7 Democratic Alliance (DA) Cllr Abdool. “I visited Sinethemba Construction last week and had a chat with the director, who said that his company has been denied many larger contracts around Endumeni and those contracts were given to outside contractors, despite Sinethemba having a cheaper quotation,” he explained. He also mentioned that the project allows hawkers to start businesses in the busy rank area. “It’s heartening that the private sector is investing in our town, which helps with employment locally. More contracts must be given to our capable local contractors who would add value to locals being employed and enhancing their skills,” concluded Cllr Abdool. Ward 3 Abantu Batho Congress Cllr Phakathi saluted the funders of this great project. “Firstly, I would like to salute Buffalo Coal for this amazing project, as one understands very well that this project comes as a result of the committed mining of Buffalo /Forbes Coal.”
