Celebrate Freedom Day the SANBS way

Residents can donate blood at the Newcastle Donor Centre from 09:00 to 14:00 on Freedom Day.

Celebrate Freedom Day the SANBS way –

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is urging residents to spare an hour of their time by donating blood this Freedom Day (April 27).

According to Donor Relations Practitioner, Shavani Sewpaul, the recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal have placed SANBS’s current blood supply under severe strain.

As a result of this, schools and businesses have had to cancel mobile clinics due to the extensive damages in their areas,” she said.

To encourage donors to give of their time and blood, donor centres will be handing out limited edition SANBS three-in-one camping stools to those who donate blood on the day.

The Newcastle Donor Centre, situated at the Newcastle Mall, will operate from 09:00 to 14:00 tomorrow.

Please don’t wait, donate!” appealed Sewpaul.

You should be in good health, be between the ages of 16 and 75, weigh more than 50kg, and live a sexually safe lifestyle in order to donate blood.
