A municipal pipe replacement programme has left a trail of damage in its wake.

Residents of Aviary Hill contacted the Newcastle Advertiser recently, concerning the number of trenches appearing in the suburb daily.

These trenches are the result of an ongoing pipe replacement programme by the municipality, but residents fear it is only a matter of time until someone gets seriously hurt.

With trenches dug at ‘nearly every corner’ in Aviary Hill, and with heaps of sand partially obstructing the road, the residents have demanded answers from the municipality.
