Fun run aims to stamp out substance abuse
The Fierce Femme Girl Up Club invites the community to a family fun run/walk this weekend in Fairleigh.
The Manna Foundation’s ‘Fierce Femme Girl Up Club’ will host a family fun run/walk on Saturday (July 30) at the open field in Bethal Street, Fairleigh.
Residents can enjoy a fun family event focusing on advocating against the social challenges of drug addiction and substance abuse, which are said to plague the communities of Fairleigh, Siyahlala-la and Paradise.
Entry into the walk/run is R10 per person – all participants will be entered into a spot draw.
Registrations open at 08:00. A Zumba warm-up class will be hosted at 08:30, with the run/walk beginning at 09:00 sharp! Medals and certificates will be handed out upon completion of the race.
A variety of fun family activities will take place afterwards, including a family obstacle course, a minute-to-win-it competition, face painting, raffles, a dancing and singing competition and much more!
Participants are encouraged to create awareness posters addressing drugs, alcohol or tobacco, and the effect on the community. The five best posters will receive a prize!
