DHS congratulates Kwanele on his gold at Science Expo

Kwanele managed to obtain a gold medal and special awards for 'Best Junior Project' (Grade 8 and 9) in the energy category.

Kwanele Mtshali from Dundee High School (DHS) travelled with Mrs Marais to Newcastle on Friday to present his research project on ‘Biogenic Solar Cell: Photo-voltaic modules powered by Bacteria’ at the Science Expo.
In layman’s terms, his project involves using bacteria to produce energy. There were 63 competitors in the U/15 age group and nine competitors were in the energy category. Kwanele managed to obtain a gold medal and special awards for ‘Best Junior Project’ (Grade 8 and 9) in the energy category. DHS is extremely proud of this young scientist with innovative ideas.

DHS would like to welcome Valentin Jonas from Luneburg, Germany. He is part of the Rotary exchange student programme and it is hoped that he enjoys the school’s culture and our beautiful country.
