Hawks arrest three men for possession of illegal firearms while driving stolen vehicle

Three men have been arrested in Dannhauser last week on charges of possessing three unlicensed firearms and ammunition while driving a vehicle stolen in Gauteng.
KZN Hawks spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo, said Hawks members from Newcastle Serious Organised Crime Investigation, in collaboration with Amajuba District members and the Newcastle Trio Crime Task Team, arrested three suspects, aged 27, 28, and 33 in Dannhauser last Wednesday for possession of unlicensed firearms.
Mhlongo added police had received information about the suspects in the area possessing unlicensed firearms. A joint operation was carried out and when members spotted the suspects’ car, t was intercepted and searched.
“Three unlicensed firearms and live rounds of ammunition were discovered in the possession of the suspects. I t was also established that their vehicle was stolen last year in Katlehong, Gauteng,” Mhlongo said.
Mhlongo said the suspects were arrested and charged, and that they would appear in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court soon.

In addition, police seized 445 firearms, 7 219 rounds of ammunition, 9 444 explosives, and 244 stolen vehicle
