Suspect nabbed for possession of firearm following home raid

Amajuba District Task Team and Crime Intelligence unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation that resulted in the arrest of a suspect in possession of a prohibited firearm.

According to Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer Lizzy Arumugam, the operation took place on December 29 at a homestead in the Manzana area of Osizweni.

“A 42-year-old man was arrested after police discovered him in possession of a prohibited 9mm pistol, a 9mm empty magazine, and five unlicensed 9mm live rounds,” she explained.

The suspect has been charged with possessing a prohibited firearm and unlicensed ammunition and will appear in court soon.
