Emadlangeni Municipality begins mayoral cleanup campaign
The Mayoral Clean-up Campaign, launched by the Emadlangeni Municipality, aims to beautify Utrecht and its surrounding townships.
The clean-up programme will focus on cutting grass and maintaining sidewalks, clearing overgrown trees, cleaning up and repairing gravesites, and repairing and cleaning up community halls.
The programme will be implemented over the next few weeks.
The municipality has enlisted the assistance of local youth to supplement the municipal team in charge of grass cutting.
This is in response to numerous complaints from young people about a lack of job opportunities in the municipality.
The Mayor M.L Buthelezi emphasised that this programme will ensure that a lot of work is done and that more locals benefit at a fraction of the cost that the previous administration spent on a similar grass cutting programme in which no locals benefitted.
