“No water shutdown”, says the municipality
The Newcastle Municipality has denounced as rumours a voice note circulating on social media warning residents of water shutdown.

The voice message goes on to say that the water shortages are due to empty reservoirs.
“The municipality is clear that there has not been a shutdown, and it denounces this false story for inciting unjustified anxiety,” the municipality said in a statement.
“Residents are urged to ignore the voice note and refrain from bulk water collection as this might put a strain on water supply unnecessarily”
The municipality added that spreading false information may result in the prosecution of the perpetrators.
“Residents are urged to use water sparingly to avoid any water shortages.”
