Local DJ shares his journey
Glen Khanye's voice can be heard waking up a number of Newcastle residents every weekend

Even though this veteran DJ is not from Newcastle, people still refer to him as a Newcastillian because he has been a staple at our local Newcastle radio station for so long.
Glen counts legendary radio greats such as Bob Mabena , Bongani ‘Khansas’ Mchunu and Linda ‘Mr Magic’ Sibiya as his role models and mentors. “I once met Mr Linda Sibiya. He has shown me that if you have faith in yourself and a passion for what you do, you can realize your dreams. I never looked back after that.”
Glen currently hosts the weekend breakfast program, a very coveted timeslot in the radio world.
His advice to aspiring radio DJs is,
“Do not fear to follow your dreams, never give up, and remember there is always darkness before dawn.”
