Urgent appeal to help find a life-saving bone marrow donor for Manjit Kooner

Manjit Kooner was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome in 2022, a rare and serious form of blood cancer, and urgently requires a suitable bone marrow donor.

To assist in matching a donor, the Durban-based Stem Cell Foundation, DKMS, will be in Newcastle next week to offer donor testing and raise awareness about the life-saving potential of stem cell transplants.

The donor drive will take place on March 1 at Lighthouse Christian Revival Centre, Hathorne Street, Lennoxton, from 10:00 to 14:00.

Organizers are encouraging the community to attend and bring their family and friends, as the support could make all the difference in saving a life.

“We urge you to attend the donor drive and be part of this vital cause. Your support could help save a life!” said Ashieka Kooner, Manjit’s wife.

“Thank you to each and every one who has supported, prayed for, and walked this journey with us. May God bless you all—you are truly appreciated.”

Please spread the word and join this life-changing effort to make a difference!

The donor testing is completely free of charge.

If you are between the ages of 17 and 55 and in general good health, register as a potential blood stem donor today!

The donating process is a non-invasive dialysis, similarly to donating blood and no drilling into the bone is involved.
