3 suspected drug dealers arrested following high-speed chase
Three suspects were arrested after law enforcement intercepted a vehicle transporting dagga following a high-speed chase.
Three suspects were arrested last Friday after law enforcement received a tip-off informing them of a vehicle transporting a large amount of dagga.
An operational team was quickly formed which included members of the Amajuba Crime Intelligence Unit, DOCC Drug Task Team, Sergeant P. Birbal, Constable M.F. Khumalo, Newcastle SAPS Pop Unit, Ingogo SAPS, Newcastle Crime Fighters (CCPA) Task Team’s A. Essop and Imran Ghafoor, Ithemba security, Barnard security, Warrant Officer R.A. Singh and Newcastle SAPS Crime Prevention C Shift.
The vehicle was spotted and a high-speed chase ensued during which it was intercepted. One man was arrested for the possession of and dealing in dagga while two others were arrested on charges of bribery and corruption.
The vehicle they were travelling in was also impounded.
Imran Ghafoor of Newcastle Crime Fighters thanked everyone involved in yet another successful operation.
