Glencoe residents may finally have water in their taps (again)

Residents declared that they are willing to protest to register their displeasure.

Workers are currently on site on Damman Street to repair a burst water pipe that has seen much of Glencoe without water for over a day.

Cllr Salem Abdool said workmen are digging a trench to access the break. “The water should be re-opened a little later and then hopefully the service will be restored,” he said.

Residents have been up in arms over the water outage. Their anger has been compounded by the extreme heat of the last few days.

“Three other breaks last week on Grove Lane and in other locations saw the Glenridge area without water. It is very frustrating,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wasbank residents say their village has been without water for days. It is unclear if this is related to the Glencoe outages as no feedback has been received from the Umzinyathi District Council.
