Nostalgic day of reunion planned for Dannhauser

This delightful interactive session will not only stir up fond memories of sport in NDH, but also reignite the energy, competitiveness and camaraderie of those times.

Nostalgia will hang heavy in Dannhauser on Saturday when a group of former and current residents get together to rekindle childhood memories of growing up in the small but vibrant town.

The reunion will get underway at 10:00 at the Sheikh Abdool Well, which many remember was the location of their primary school, with an interfaith prayer service – a heartfelt and honourable tribute to our forefathers, parents and all the townsfolk of Dannhauser who are not with us anymore.

This will include an address by the mayor, after which they will wander the familiar streets of Dannhauser, and relive the significant moments of our lives, laugh at long-forgotten antics, and perhaps shed a tear or two for the times that have passed.

“This dreamy journey down memory lane is designed to be a tribute to the soil of our birth, reinforcing the bond that transcends generations and cementing unity and togetherness.

The trip back to Dannhauser isn’t just about partying – it is an embracing of one’s roots, a celebration of history, and a testament to the undying spirit of camaraderie and shared memories,” said organising committee member Rakesh Maharaj.
Following this exploration, a hearty outdoor lunchtime braai awaits. Amid the aromas of grilled delicacies, those who attend will indulge in conversation and laughter as they reminisce about the good old days. The afternoon promises a vibrant atmosphere of fun and games.

The day concludes with a dinner event – the finale of a day full of shared memories.
The programme will feature authentic cuisine, speeches, a presentation on the past, and desserts.
