Dundee Country Club to host ‘Liv Golf’ tournaments

Dundee golf club is pioneering this new format of tournaments aimed at bringing excitement and a competitive edge back to the sport.

Dundee Country Club is to host its own version of LIV Golf – the new professional men’s golf tour backed by a wealth fund from Saudi Arabia and spearheaded by former world number one Greg Norman, aimed to revolutionize the sport by introducing team-based competition and substantial financial incentives for players.

Formed in 2022, the name “LIV” refers to the Roman numerals for 54, the number of holes played at LIV events.

The first Dundee event will be an IPS event played on Workers’ Day, May 1, with the winner set to take home R1500. The second-placed golfer will win R700, third place R300 while there will also be R500 prizes for nearest the pin on numbers 8 and 16.

“The entry fee is R200 per player and ladies and men are welcome. We are very excited about this tournament which is a first of its kind in our area and perhaps in KZN,” said Dave Donaldson of the Dundee Country Club.

The club plans to host two LIV tournaments a month with the second one, in a 4BBB format, set to tee off on May 25.

“The aim is to get golfers out on the course with a new excitement and of course to raise much-needed funds for our club. We hope to attract players around KZN to these LIV tournaments in Dundee.”
