Teen Dundee author makes his mark in the murder mystery genre

While Zaydaan wishes to study law after school, he is determined to continue writing novels.

Zaydaan Ebrahim, a 16-year-old learner at Dundee High School, is making his mark as a talented young writer.
Raised in Dannhauser, Ebrahim completed his primary schooling there before continuing his education at Dundee High School, where he is currently in Grade 10.

With a deep passion for reading, writing and drama, Ebrahim has always been inclined towards creative expression. In 2023, he decided to channel his passion into writing his first novel called ‘Shadows of the Throne: Royal Murder Mystery’. The process was no easy task, with Ebrahim dedicating countless hours of his spare time to write the book, which took him a remarkable eight months to finish.
Upon completing the novel, Ebrahim travelled to Pretoria with his family for an interview with BK Publishers, a well-known publishing company.

The publishers were so impressed with his talent and dedication that they offered him a publishing deal. With financial support from his family and his own savings, Ebrahim successfully published his debut novel.
Not one to rest on his laurels, he has already started work on his second book, ‘2 Shadows of the Throne: Rise of Shadows’, which he hopes to complete by the end of the year.

Looking ahead, Ebrahim has big plans for his future. After finishing his matric, he hopes to pursue a law degree while continuing to write novels. His drive and determination serve as an inspiration to young aspiring writers, and there’s no doubt that his creative journey is just beginning.
