Dundee bowlers shine at Northern Zone Fours tournament
Dundee teams dominate Northern Zone Fours, clinching both titles and advancing to the District Playoffs in Zululand.
Dundee Bowling Club played host to the 2025 Northern Zone Fours Competition over the weekend, attracting strong participation from across the region, despite testing weather conditions on Saturday.
Four ladies’ teams and nine men’s teams competed in the tournament, delivering a high standard of bowls that kept spectators engaged throughout.
The ladies competed in a round-robin format, concluding their matches on Saturday. Sue’s Newcastle-based team finished fourth, while Urcilla’s Dundee team claimed third. Nancy’s team from Newcastle secured the runner-up spot.
The title of 2025 Northern Zone Ladies’ Fours champions went to a dominant Dundee side, skipped by Elsie, who remained unbeaten throughout the day. Congratulations to Elsie and her team on their outstanding performance.
In the men’s division, sectional matches wrapped up on Saturday. Rudi’s Dundee team earned an early place in the final. A playoff between Fritz’s Newcastle team and Jacques’s Dundee team determined the second finalist, with Jacques’s side progressing.
The final turned into an all-Dundee clash, with Jacques’s team producing a commanding performance to defeat Rudi’s side 21-4 and take the title.
All three Dundee teams will now go on to represent the Northern Zone at the District Fours Playoffs in Zululand this September.
