Police investigate a fatal shooting after a domestic dispute in Mzomusha escalates into a violent confrontation.

Police have launched a murder investigation after a 33-year-old man was fatally shot during a violent confrontation in the Mzomusha area of Dundee on Sunday, December 7.

Domestic dispute escalates into deadly clash

 Captain Ntathu Ndlovu, KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson, told the Courier that officers were responding to a domestic violence complaint at about 11 pm when the situation escalated.

“The man became aggressive, allegedly assaulting officers with stones before attempting to wrestle a firearm from one of them.

“In the struggle, the man reached for the police officer’s firearm. A shot was fired, and he died at the scene,” Captain Ndlovu said.

No police officers were injured during the incident.

Police confirmed that a state-owned vehicle was also damaged during the confrontation. The matter is now under investigation.
