Zonke FC uplifts Dundee learners through school shoe donations

Zonke FC donates school shoes to disadvantaged learners and expands its growing community upliftment drive

Zonke FC, a popular local legends football team established in 2023, is making a tangible difference in the lives of disadvantaged learners through its school shoe donation initiative.

Formed by former football players with a strong desire to give back, the team uses football as a platform to support learners who are unable to afford basic school necessities.

Beneficiaries are identified through teachers at local schools, ensuring that the assistance reaches learners most in need. Over the past two years, Zonke FC has donated more than 110 pairs of school shoes to pupils at various schools in the area.

Growing impact beyond the pitch

The initiative has helped restore dignity among learners and has contributed positively to school attendance. It has also inspired other local legends teams to become involved in similar community upliftment projects.

Zonke FC has confirmed that further donations are planned, with upcoming distributions set to benefit Wasbank School, Boschkloef, Hlonipha and Ebusi.

The team has encouraged community members, businesses and potential sponsors to support the initiative. Those wishing to contribute can contact Sabelo Buthelezi on 073 385 0850 or Mapholoba on 073 659 1077.

Zonke FC said it remains committed to using sport to uplift young learners and strengthen the community.
