Bereaved family still looking for answers following murder of much-loved man

Police investigate a Dundee murder after a man dies in an alleged stabbing, as family remembers his joyful spirit.

A devastated Dundee family is still coming to terms with the death of 49-year-old Nathi Ndlovu, who was murdered late last month.

His family remember Nathi as a warm, loving family man, and his stabbing to death has shocked the close-knit community.

Sergeant Siyabonga Nkwanyana, Umzinyathi SAPS spokesperson, confirmed that a man had been arrested following the murder on February 28.

” Nathi Ndlovu, was certified dead on arrival at the hospital after sustaining a stab wound. Officers were called to the Dundee Hospital by the family.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was allegedly stabbed at his residence following a quarrel with the suspect. A 46-year-old male was taken into custody on the same day,” Nkwanyana said.

Family unhappy with ‘soft bail’

The accused, Sanele Sithole, has since appeared in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court and was released on R2 000 bail, having been described as cooperative. Investigations are ongoing.

The relative said they were unhappy with the ‘soft bail’ and feel aggrieved that the suspect is free to roam while they struggle with grief.

Ndlovu was laid to rest at a funeral service held at the Dundee Moth Hall.
