Police foil copper cable theft

Copper cable to the value of R200, 000 was recovered in Brynbella.

Police were alerted to a theft in progress and the Estcourt Station Commander Colonel Nkosinathi Radebe, Visible Policing Commander, tracing team as well as visible policing officers responded.

Officers trekked through thick bush and found a stash of copper cable that had been cut and packed, ready for transportation.

“The recovered metal was confiscated by police, pending further investigations,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.
