Man arrested for possession of illegal firearm

The suspect appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate's Court on Monday

A crime intelligence operation resulted in a man being arrested during the early hours of Saturday morning (February 4) in the St Chad’s area of Ezakheni.

Police were searching for illegal firearms and netted a 40-year-old suspect.

The man had a 9mm pistol and one round of ammunition with him.

The firearm was not licensed, so he was promptly arrested.

The suspect faces a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
