Clamping down on crime

This operation was part of efforts to reduce crime in Estcourt

With the purpose of reducing crime in Estcourt, police officers from stations in the Uthukela district were all part of an operation in the CBD on Saturday evening (March 11).

On the agenda for the night were compliance inspections at liquor outlets, ‘stop and search’ operations, roadblocks, blue light patrols and visiting crime hot-spots, which was also extended to Draycott.

“Store owners who were in contravention were warned to comply with the Liquor Act. Several people were arrested and charged for drunkenness, as well as being in possession of suspected stolen property,” explained police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.
